  • 100 South Third Street, DeSoto, MO 63020

  • The community is invited to use this garden located in the south side churchyard.

This is a place where you can experience the beauty of nature in the warmth of the morning sunshine or the coolness of the afternoon shade. Come and sit for a time of peaceful meditation.

  • DeSoto Hope United Church of Christ was unofficially formed in 1947 and officially formed in 1955 as a result of the merger of the First Congregational Church and Friedens Evangelical Church.

The cornerstone of the church building was laid in 1889 by the First Congregational Church. The first joint service was held on March 21, 1948.

  • Available for children under the age of six during morning worship.

GET PLUGGED IN

  • Sunday Morning Worship

Worship services begin at 10:30 a.m. and consist of both contemporary and traditional music, scriptures, prayers, and Bible-based sermons complemented with video presentations.

  • Bible Studies

Periodically, Bible studies are offered. Most recently, a Bible Study focused on the book of Matthew during the Lenten season. This one was by Zoom and was open to everyone.

  • Community Outreach

Hope is well-known in the DeSoto community for its semi-annual rummage sales, both for widespread donations of rummage and for regular shoppers benefitting from bargain prices.

Hope supports DeSoto community events by having booths at the summer and fall festivals. We recently co-hosted a Cornhole Tournament with Kozzy’s Place.

  • Book Studies & Discussions

We have had a Book Club that has met monthly and has discussed a wide variety of books including both fact and fiction. The last selection was especially meaningful to today’s church: The Vital Vintage Church by Michael Piazza.

  • Social Events

In addition to working together, we enjoy playing together as well. Several recent examples include a Celebration Dinner at a local restaurant; group trips to an orchard, theater productions, and baseball games; and monthly potluck dinners.

  • Community Worship

Other examples of community outreach events include regular participation in joint services with other churches. Hope most recently hosted the joint Thanksgiving, Ash Wednesday, and Good Friday Services.

We are regular supporters of the Fifth Sunday Singspiration Services sponsored by the DeSoto Ministerial Alliance.

“We have been worshiping at Hope since August of last year and we were immediately received with such a warm, attentive welcome! This congregation is brimming with enthusiasm, openness, and acceptance.”
